Welcome!

Hello to all creatives, storytellers, and faithful Christ followers! My name is Kayla and I believe that words are powerful. Words are the tools that have been used for centuries to shape reality, penetrate hearts, and make ideas come to life. There are so many stories that play into every day and never get told. My mission is to be part of telling those stories. Whether it is writing an article about a person whose story has been overlooked or writing a post encouraging you to press on in your own story, I am a storyteller at heart.

In our core, we all deeply desire to be seen and known. I desire for my writing to tell the parts of your story that you never knew how to put words to. I want you to read my blog and come away feeling more known. I want my creativity to reflect the ultimate Creator as He crafts our individual stories to fold into His divine narrative.

My Story

My writing journey began back in fourth grade when I had to write a four page research paper on horses. This was when I first decided I hated writing. I didn’t begin to enjoy the art of putting words on paper until 7th grade when I learned from a wonderful teacher who knew the value of writing. As I grew older, I slowly began to realize writing was what I was made to do, but had no idea what that meant for my life. It was around the same time that I found my passion for public speaking. This came as a shock to many friends and relatives because they knew me as the girl who rarely spoke. Sophomore year of high school is when one of my teachers invested into and encouraged my dream to go on to be the next Christian author and speaker.

When I told people what I wanted to be when I grew up, they all asked the same question: “Do you have a blog?” So on December 1st, 2013, my first blog post was posted on take-it-from-kayla.blogspot.com. My blog quickly became one of my favorite places to spend my time. I continued to grow in my writing skills and after high school, and went to Moody Bible Institute to major in Communications. Now I continue to pursue my dream of becoming a published author and continue to write what I’m passionate about on my blog. I eventually found the need for a more established site to post my writing, so I started this website to replace my Blogspot site. I continue to write wherever and whenever I can, whether in my university newspaper, for my church’s communications, or through articles published online. May I ever keep doing what my Creator made me to do, and may it continue to bless you along the way!
